Dr. Bill Schuler, DC

Hi, my name is Dr. Bill Schuler, and I am a doctor who practices in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. I have been trained in multiple fields of health care which I use to help a variety of patients improve and regain their health. Through the use of Applied Kinesiology and the Systems Health Care technique, I am able to analyze and interpret the health needs of the body through its many systems. I employ muscle testing, nutritional support, acupressure meridian therapy, functional neurology, biochemistry, proper body mechanics, and a multitude of other techniques to achieve this goal. I am often the last resort for patients who may have been let down by previous medical treatments that focus only on symptoms and fail to get to the root cause of the problem, even after numerous attempts.

My goal is to set you on a path to feeling like you again, before whatever injury, diagnosis, or health ailment caused you to seek help. I see all types of patients in my office including children, elite athletes, IT professionals, weekend warriors, housewives/husbands, teachers, and other healthcare providers. My aim is to peel back the surface level layers of compensation such as pain or inflammation and figure out which system in the body may be causing dysfunction. I believe that patients should always have alternative options available to them besides the common conventional approach of medication and surgery. This is what I provide. Every patient is different and must be approached individually, I do not agree with a one treatment fixes all philosophy, no matter the diagnosis.

I graduated and received my bachelor’s degree from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and obtained my doctorate degree in chiropractic from Life University in Marietta, Georgia.  I am a former U-17 and U-20 national team soccer player where I competed in youth World Cups and became a four year all American at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I won a national championship at UNC and was runner up for the Hermann trophy award for the best player in the country. I played soccer professionally for the San Jose Earthquakes and Vancouver Whitecaps in the MLS, for Hammarby IF of the Superettan in Sweden, and for NCFC in the USL.

My thirst for knowledge about the human body began in my early college years when out of the blue I developed severe calf pain and lost my previous high level of fitness due to exhaustion. After seeing countless doctors in the UNC medical system, I was advised to make an appointment with an alternative medicine physician, my current mentor and colleague, Dr. Stephen Gangemi. I was then introduced to the world of Applied Kinesiology and soon realized that my symptoms did not just appear out of the blue but were due to extreme overtraining without the proper nutrition to back it up. From that point on I was obsessed with natural health and anything that could keep me on the field performing at my highest level. After six years of playing, I decided to hang up my boots, forgo my fancy economics degree, and go to chiropractic school, as I could see no better future than helping people in the same way that I was helped so many years ago. While in chiropractic school I went to countless hours of classes and seminars to learn Applied Kinesiology in order to apply the Systems Health Care technique. After school I moved straight back to Chapel Hill to work in the Systems Healthcare office and start my own practice.

I live in Carrboro, North Carolina with my girlfriend and fellow chiropractor Jacqueline Quinto and our dog Rocky. We love to be outdoors in nature, cook healthy and delicious food, exercise in a fun way, and stay up to date with current health research in order to better ourselves and our patients. I cannot wait to see you in the office and help make a difference in your life.
